Picnicking at Cook Forest State Park
Picnic tables and charcoal grills are throughout the park.
Picnic Shelters and Pavilions
Three large picnic pavilions and one small pavilion may be reserved up to 11 months in advance for a fee. Unreserved picnic pavilions are free on a first-come, first-served basis.
Shelter 1
This shelter is a half-mile from the park office on Forest Road. Each half of the shelter (1A & 1B) can be reserved separately and seats up to 80 occupants. Shelter 1A features a wood fireplace. Both provide electricity, charcoal grill, and ADA accessible access.
Shelter 2
This shelter is located just past Shelter 1 on Forest Road. Each half of the shelter (2A & 2B) can be reserved separately and seats up to 50 occupants. Shelter 1B features a wood fireplace. Both provide electricity, a charcoal grill, and ADA accessible access.
River Road Shelter
This shelter on River Road accommodates up to 60 occupants. The River Road Shelter includes electricity, a charcoal grill, and ADA accessible access. A playground is within 500 feet of the shelter.
Ridge Campground Shelter
This shelter is at the entrance of Ridge Campground, approximately one-mile from the park office on Route 36. This small shelter accommodates 48 occupants. Electricity and a charcoal grill are provided.
This activity or structure is ADA accessible. Picnic shelters 1, 2, and River Road are ADA accessible, as are the nearby restrooms.
