Surfing at Presque Isle State Park

Surfing is permitted at all beaches, on the lake side of the park year-round. The following rules apply to this activity:

  • Surfing is not permitted within swimming guarded zones while swim areas are in operation.
  • Surfers are required to keep a 100-foot distance from zones during hours of operation. (10:00 A.M. - 7:30 P.M. during the swimming season).
  • Surfing is not permitted at lakeside beaches around Gull Point Natural Area during its normal closure period of April 1 – October 31.
  • Surfing is not permitted at any area posted closed by Park Management. This includes, but is not limited to, swimming restrictions due to water quality testing in accordance with PA Title 28, Chapter 18 Public Swimming and Bathing Places.
