Promised Land State Park
This beautiful 2,971 acre state park is located in Pike County and offers picnicking, hunting, fishing, biking, boating and hiking, on 29 miles of trails which connect into the surrounding Delaware State Forest. The 422-acre Promised Land Lake and the 173-acre Lower Lake provide opportunities for fishing, swimming, and boating. Camping is available on 506 campsites as well as in rustic cabins. Winter activities include ice-skating and fishing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling on 17 miles of trails.
Surrounding Promised Land State Park is approximately 12,000 acres of Delaware State Forest land. During the winter months, Promised Land State Park becomes somewhat of a “recreational hub” for snowmobilers and cross-country skiers to connect into the Delaware State Forest from Promised Land State Park.
Big Pocono State Park
This 1,306 acre state park is located in Monroe County and features picnicking, hunting, ten miles of hiking trails, great vistas, and horseback riding on five miles of equine trails.
Tobyhanna State Park
This 5,400 acre state park is located in Monroe and Wayne counties and offers picnicking, hunting, bicycling, and hiking on twelve miles of trails. The one hundred and seventy acre lake provides opportunities for fishing, swimming, and boating. Organized group tenting is offered as well as camping at one hundred and forty sites. Winter activities include ice-skating, ice-fishing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling on five miles of trails.
Gouldsboro State Park
This 2,800 acre state park located in Monroe County offers picnicking, hunting, and hiking on ten miles of trails. The two hundred and fifty acre lake provides opportunities for swimming, fishing, and boating. Winter activities include ice fishing and cross-country skiing.
Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area
The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area is administered by the National Park Service. This recreation area attracts visitors annually. It straddles both sides of the Delaware River, extending from the Water Gap to the town of Milford. This recreation area encompasses some 70,000 acres.
George W. Childs Park
George W. Childs Park, administered by the National Park Service, is located three miles west of Dingmans Ferry on Legislative Route 51006. The main attraction is a series of spectacular waterfalls in the center of the park. Picnic tables are available.
Meesing Nature Center
The Meesing Nature Center is located on the Delaware State Forest near Marshalls Creek in Monroe County. The Monroe County Conservation District operates the center. Educational programs at Meesing are conducted for individuals and groups of all ages, from preschoolers to senior citizens. Their programs encompass a broad range of interests and activities including teacher education, guided group visits, research, naturalist apprentice training, nature study, maple syrup production demonstration, conservation and natural history.
